FILA - ‘Art of Fila’ Campaign
For SS23, FILA spent the day with three UK artists in order to explore their processes and inspirations. Within each artist’s respective studio, FILA explored a “day in the life” as they created a piece of FILA artwork through their individual techniques and specialised mediums. Through a series of films and images, FILA shines a light on what it means to be an artist in Britain today.
Trackie Mcleod
Glaswegian artist, Trackie McLeod narrates a powerful self-written poem inspired by British heritage, culture and childhood nostalgia. The film opens with Trackie preparing for the day by shaving his head in the mirror before he takes to the streets of Glasgow.
Trackie takes us to his familiar haunts and studio as iPhone & VHS clips of his day-to-day life interject. The film concludes as Trackie is seen screen-printing the poems title, “The Real McCoy” onto the back of his FILA track top adorned by individual embellishments Trackie is known for.
Winnie Hall
London-based artist, Winnie Hall within her studio, OOF Gallery, located at Tottenham Hotspur FC stadium.
The film opens with Winnie dipping a chip into a paint pot before eating it like ketchup.
A nod to the tongue-in-cheek nature of Winnie’s work. Winnie talks about her daily inspirations of humour within British culture and how she draws inspiration from those themes.
Winnie is seen painting on canvas figures forming the iconic FILA F Box logo throughout the film, culminating in a finished artwork displayed on her mantle.
Daniel Freeman
Daniel David Freeman within his London home and studio. The film sees Daniel bringing his materials back to his flat before commencing a piece of work.
Projectors displaying Daniels’s adaptation of the FILA logo flood the room as he talks through his inspirations and what creativity means to him.
Daniel is seen painting on glass alongside demonstrating skilful penmanship by drawing minute details within a piece of FILA artwork.
